How it works
Words are counted as runs of letters or numbers, so contractions like “don’t” count as one word. Sentences are split on full stops, question marks, exclamation marks and line breaks.
Speaking time is useful for scripts, voice-overs and presentations. Read your script aloud once to calibrate it to your own pace.

Does it work with Hindi text?
Word and character counts work for Hindi in Devanagari. The common-words list is tuned for English.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything is counted in your browser and nothing is stored.
Why might my count differ from another tool?
Tools treat hyphenated words, numbers and symbols differently. Small differences are normal.
